Darren Koningen, P.Eng

Director, President & CEO

Darren Koningen is a professional engineer (metallurgy) with over 25 years of international mining experience.

Mr. Koningen formerly acted as President & CEO of of NWM Mining Corporation after being asked by lenders to restructure the company in 2012 due to pending bankruptcy. He led a new management team to fix operational issues, prepare new production plan for a ramp-up to +60,000 oz/yr and complete resource expansion. NWM quickly became cash flow positive, re-paid all debt and project was ultimately sold in 2015. 

Mr. Koningen also acted as VP Project Development at GoWest Gold Ltd., and before that, was a founding member of Castle Gold Corp and acted as VP Operations and VP Engineering. Prior to Castle Gold, Mr. Koningen was employed as a Senior Process Engineer (mining and metallurgy) with Kvaerner Engineering. Roles included process development, engineering and cost analysis, construction, and commissioning. Mr. Koningen's broad international experience in metallurgy process design and operations has allowed him to make significant contributions to bringing two operating and profitable gold mines into production in the past 5 years.

Mr. Koningen obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science, Mineral Process Engineering from Queens University in 1990

Ruben Padilla, PhD


Mr. Padilla has 25 years of experience working on target generation, project evaluations, mining geology, and management of exploration programs with various companies mostly focused on the Americas. He holds a geological engineering degree from the University of Chihuahua in Mexico and Masters and PhD degrees from the University of Arizona. 

Currently, Mr. Padilla is a chief geologist at Talisker Exploration Services Inc., an Ontario based mining and exploration services company co-founded by Mr. Padilla in 2010, whose principal clients are Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd. and their associated companies.

Mr. Padilla worked and completed important research at the La Escondida deposit in Chile where he identified a blind target related with a younger porphyry event today known as the Escondida Este deposit. With AngloGold Ashanti, he acted as exploration country manager in Peru and in Colombia and as Chief Geologist for the Americas exploration group. He was part of the team that discovered the Colosa and Gramalote deposits in Colombia.  

Borys Chabursky, B.Sc.


Borys Chabursky is the Founder and Chairman of Shift Health; established to develop convergent solutions that improve human health and wellbeing. With his oversight, Shift Health has successfully delivered over 500 life sciences assignments for more than 300 clients in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

In addition to his role as Founder and Chairman of Shift Heath, Borys serves as the Chairman of SHI Capital, a boutique investment bank, and President of SHI Ventures, a vehicle through which he has invested as an angel in over 40 companies including 15 life sciences start-ups.

Borys is a member of the advisory boards of GEMMA Biotechnology, Temperance Capital and Purepoint Uranium. He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and a board member of the Maple Leaf Chapter (Greater Toronto Chapter).

Borys is a sought-after speaker and has been named one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40”. He has been featured in international television, radio and print media including Canadian Business, CBC, Global TV, The National Post, Site Selection, BioBusiness, Life Science Today, Biotechnology Focus, The China Post, Les Echos, Turkish Daily News, The Peterborough Examiner, The Hamilton Spectator and Business Executive.  Mr. Chabursky holds a B.Sc. in Toxicology from the University of Toronto.

Bruce Durham, P.Geo


Bruce has been involved in the mineral exploration business for more than 40 years, most of which have been directly in the junior exploration industry. Much of his career has been spent searching for gold deposits in eastern Canada, although at various times he has been involved in mineral exploration programs for diamond, asbestos, base metals, uranium and molybdenum.

Mr. Durham has worked throughout the Americas and has also taken part in programs in Africa and Korea. He has been involved in many contracting and consulting positions and has held a number of corporate positions with other companies exploring portfolios of projects across Canada. Bruce’s career has seen him directly involved in a number of successful exploration programs that resulted in several new mines being built, including two of the three Hemlo, Ontario gold mines. Another project led to significant discoveries that have been developed by a Chinese entity as Quebec’s newest nickel copper PGE mine.

Mr. Durham is currently the President and CEO of Nevada Zinc Corporation (“NZN”­-TSX-V), and a Director of Norvista Capital Corporation(“NVV”­-TSX-V) and Rockcliff Copper Corporation ("RCU"-TSX-V).
